TAKHT BHAI
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha has said his party represents the downtrodden, farmers, labourers and the poor, and has struggled for public rights, economic stability and social justice.
Talking to journalists during a visit to Takht Bhai, he alleged that the 13-year rule of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had left the province facing economic decline and an administrative crisis, with public institutions weakened.
He questioned the increase in the assets of some elected representatives who, he claimed, had limited financial means before assuming public office, and called for transparency and accountability.
Mr Bacha said the problems accumulated over 13 years could not be resolved in 13 days and required serious planning and honest leadership.
He said the PPP’s politics revolved around public service, democratic stability and the supremacy of the Constitution rather than the pursuit of power. He said the party remained committed to its slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’.
He listed the Kisan Card, Hari Card, Benazir Mazdoor Card and Youth Card, expansion of the Benazir Income Support Programme, and free education and healthcare among the initiatives included in the party’s manifesto. The PPP provincial president also announced that party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would visit KP soon and address a public gathering in Mardan or the Malakand division.
During the visit, Mr Bacha also offered condolences to the family of Jahanzeb Khan, son of late Khan Fazal Maula Khan, a founding leader of the party. He offered Fateha for the deceased.
PPP district president Asadullah Khan, tehsil president Javed Iqbal, Katlang tehsil president Aslam Khan Khattak, Irfan Mohmand, Ibrahim Syed Yousafzai, Nadir Khan, Abdul Rasheed Bhutto, Arshad Anwar, Haleem Khalji, Nasir Shah, Zeeshan Pathan and Amir Zaman were also present.
