Seven killed in attack on MPs house in Kabul

KABUL (INP) Afghan Security officials have confirmed that seven people were killed during the overnight siege Wednesday on Helmand MP Mir Wali’s house in Khoshal Khan, PD5, in Kabul.
The siege ended early Thursday morning after a 13 hour standoff.
Three attackers stormed the house shortly before 7pm Wednesday night. Early Thursday morning special forces brought the situation under control. All three attackers were killed.
Officials said among the dead is the son of Kandahar MP Obaidullah Barikzai, two security guards, four of Mir Wali’s family members. There were no casualties among security forces.
Crisis Response Unit members and Special Forces were deployed to the scene immediately after the attack started and cordoned off the area. Sporadic gunfire was heard through most of the night in the area, with some residents reporting at least two explosions.
Mir Wali was reportedly at home when the attackers stormed the house but managed to escape through a neighboring house.
