All set to mark Labour Day in KP, Fata amid programs to highlight services of workforce

All set is set to mark International Labour Day in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Fata on Tuesday where people would renew pledge to work tirelessly for progress and prosperity of country besides highlighting services of the workforce.
The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of Pakistan besides liberation of all Muslim occupied territories including Indian Held Kashmir and Palestine and for eternal peace of the martyrs.
It would be a public holiday on May 1 in KP and Fata and all the government, semi government and private offices will remain closed.
To mark the day, different organizations, labour and trade unions had planned rallies, functions, walks and seminars in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata for support of their rights besides paying rich tributes to labourers of Chicago who laid down lives to uphold rights of labourers.
In Peshawar, Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) will take out a big rally from Gulbahar GT Road that will culminate at Hashtnagri Chowk after marching on different roads. The participants will hold placards and banners with pro-labourers slogans to highlight sacrifices of Chicago victims.
They will reiterate to work hard for progress and prosperity of the country besides raising voice for attaining due rights for labourers as an enshrined in the constitution besides discouraging the forced labour.
The employees of various departments and civil society would hold rallies to mark the International Labour Day in front of Peshawar Press Club and will pay tributes to victims of Chicago.
Khyber Riskhunkhwa Drivers and Rickshaw Union will stage a rally in connection with Labour Day and chant pro-labours slogans.
Meanwhile, the Governor KP, Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in a statement issued here on the eve of International Labour Day has appealed both the labourers and the entrepreneurs to be more conscious towards ensuring best utilization of available resources as well as maintain unity and amicable working relationships in making the output of the work of the working class and investments of the desired standards.
He said 1st of May reminds us of the sacrifices which the labourers of Chicago had offered for up-holding their rights and dignity of their work.
“Their justified action impressed the world community so much that we have decided to observe the day internationally with the basic aim to promote realization about the importance of labour and protection of the rights of workers,” the Governor maintained.
Keeping in view the challenges which we as a nation have been experiencing presently, the Governor appealed to both the labourers and the entrepreneurs to be more conscious towards ensuring best utilization of the available resources as well as maintain unity and amicable working relationships in making the output of the work of the working class and the investments of the desired standards.
Murtaza Javed Abbassi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly said May Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of working force are an indispensable pillar of our country.
In a statement, he said this important day, symbolizes the strength and character of the Pakistani workforce and their devotion and commitment towards making our country a prosperous and progressive in the world.
Abbassi paid rich tributes to workforce worldwide and said the role of labourers is extremely important for socio-economic development of a country.The Deputy Speaker said Government was taking various measures for the welfare of labourers and their families. He reiterated that the government’s firm commitment and resolve to safeguard the dignity and status of the workforce.
