ANP launches membership drive

PESHAWAR: Central General Secretary Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain inaugurated membership campaign in PK-65 on Wednesday. The ANP central general secretary inaugurated the drive by filling his membership form and urged masses to come forward and actively participate in the campaign and collectively work for uplift of the underprivileged segment of society. He hoped the membership process would be completed in an organized manner within scheduled timeframe. He said he was actively engaged in bringing the opposition parties together, but such efforts were thwarted in view of security threats. He also underlined the need for expediting efforts for early arrest of killers of Maulana Samiul Haq and Tahir Dawar. Referring to situation in Afghanistan, Mian Aftikhar said the US was going through final round of Afghan war, shedding massive blood and all the stakeholders should play their positive role by engaging in talks to bring a peaceful solution to the issue. He said that peaceful Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan, US and China. He also lamented that rupees was devalued without bringing into notice of prime minister, having serious economic fallouts. He also welcomed opening of Kartarpur corridor and added the initiative would improve relations between the two countries. He also criticized the PPP for pursuing political expediencies. APP
