Bring ordinance to make rapists a sign of warning for others: PM directs law minister others

ISLAMABAD, November 21 (Online): Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan while directing to bring ordinance to make those involved in raping the women and children a sign of warning for others has said we want to give a secure environment to the society.

Law minister Farogh Nasim, minister for human rights Shireen Mazari and Barrister Ali Zafar called on the PM Saturday.

The PM directed them to bring law carrying rigorous sentences for the criminals involved in subjecting the women and children to sexual abuse. Such a law be introduced under which the affected women and the children could lodge their complaints fearlessly.

He urged that protection of identity of the victim women and children should be ensured in this law particularly. We have to give safe environment to our society.

PM inquired from law minister about the conviction of the offenders and procedure for the protection of the witnesses. Upon it PM was given complete briefing.

The PM while directing to finalize this ordinance as soon as possible refused to give more time.

He stressed that necessary measures should be taken to curb sexual abuse related cases besides ensuring dispensation of justice on fast track basis. A moment delay is hazardous in the matter of heinous nature.

Take the matter to logic conclusion no matter if you have to work day in day night, he urged.

The ordinance is likely to be presented in next meeting of the cabinet.
