Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced a comprehensive Rs1 trillion development package for the merged districts, vowing to secure the region’s rights and ensure lasting peace.
Addressing a Peace Jirga in tribal district Bajaur here on Sunday, the CM said the package would focus on health, education, and infrastructure development, with Rs400 billion allocated for the health and education sectors alone.
He announced the establishment of a university campus in Bajaur, connectivity with the Dir and Swat Motorways, and the operationalization of the Bajaur Nursing College.
The CM emphasized that peace was a prerequisite for development and prosperity, and that the provincial government was committed to achieving sustainable peace through inclusive engagement with all stakeholders.
He criticized past policies, saying military operations had yielded no benefits and instead led to destruction and displacement.
Afridi urged unity among political parties and stakeholders, saying peace and prosperity required collective effort beyond political affiliations.
He assured the people of Bajaur that their demands had been accepted and that public funds would be spent on public welfare.
