Commissioner D I Khan pledged full support in curbing electricity theft

Commissioner D I Khan has pledged full support of Divisional Administration in curbing electricity theft and recovery of arrears. He was chairing a high level meeting held in his office, this afternoon. The meeting was attended beside others by Chief Executive TESCO Mian Hamid, Addl: Director, XENs of newly established Tribal Districts of South and North Waziristan.
Briefing the meeting regarding performance of TESCO, the Chief Executive Mian Hamid said that recovery of arrears was the main challenge faced by this organization, as the electricity theft was not that a chronic problem as compare to settled districts, because electric meters of most of the consumers especially industrial, commercial and agricultural consumers were installed in premises of Grid Stations that is why from these connections electricity theft was not possible. On this occasion, expressing his views, the Commissioner D I Khan resolved to extend full cooperation and support to curb the menace of electricity theft and recovery of huge arrears, but at the same time he expressed his displeasure over the piling-up of arrears which was no doubt the result of lethargic attitude of concerned organization.
He advised that all recoveries should be made in time so that recovery operations or other strict measures could be avoided, which not only causes inconvenience for the general public but also put extra burden on state machinery.
He hoped that people of Tribal Areas will fully cooperate, because elimination of electricity theft and recovery of arrears was the only solution to the heavy load shedding, low voltage and uninterrupted power supply can be ensured by adopting these measures only.
