CPEC guarantor for bright future of KP: CM

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday said his government is fully supporting China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which is symbol of bright future of the province. Talking to media persons here, he acknowledged that their demands are being met by starting work on the western route with provision of all facilities.
Khatak said that previous governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not do anything for the province however his government has taken stand for rights of Pakhtun people.
The chief minister said the political leadership promoted the culture of corruption in the past which was the root cause of all the ills being faced by the country.
He claimed that the KP government introduced a transparent governance system in the province, curbing plundering of national wealth, besides eliminating political interference in public sector institutions.
The reforms in police, Patwar, health, education and other departments and sectors had yielded dividend and now the resources were being spent on the public welfare in KP, he added.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Tuesday that the ‘Sehat Insaf Card’ would provide health services to more than 50 percent deserving population in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was addressing the distribution ceremony of ‘Sehat Insaf Cards’ under the auspices of ‘Sehat Sahulat Programme’ in Gulbahar locality in the provincial capital. Provincial Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, Member Provincial Assembly Shaukat Yousafzai and Secretary Health Abid Majeed were also present on the occasion. The chief minister gave away cards to the deserving people.
Pervez Khattak said the provincial government deserved praise for introducing the ‘Insaf Cards System’ to provide free health facilities to the deserving people. He said the federal government was trying to replicate the project. He also lauded the contribution of the provincial Health Department for making the project a reality.
The chief minister said that initially the ‘Insaf Cards’ facility was introduced in four districts in the province. “Now the project has been extended to all parts of the province,” he maintained.He said that more than 50 percent of the population in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would benefit from it.
The chief minister said the provincial government was providing funds resources for the project. He said that people voted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to power to introduce reforms and change the system. He said that in the past the resources were looted as there was no justice and accountability of the corrupt.  He added that the provincial government worked hard to change the system to serve the people.
Pervez Khattak said that poor people were faced with a host of problems so his government took steps to provide them relief. “The government initiated reforms in the police force to check crimes,” he maintained.  He claimed the government had brought an end to political interference in the Police Department.
He asked the people to observe the performance of government departments to make the reform agenda a success.Pervez Khattak said that monitoring system was put in place in the education sector to ensure the attendance of teachers and other staff in schools. He said that facilities were made available at schools while the shortage of staff was also met to facilitate the students.  “These steps have improved the performance of schools. Now people are sending their children to government schools instead of private ones,” he asserted.
Highlighting the reforms in the health sector, the chief minister said the salaries of doctors were raised three times. He said monitoring system was introduced to ensure the attendance of staff at hospitals.He said that autonomy was given to the tertiary care hospitals to simplify and speed up the decision-making process. He maintained that 100 percent doctors would be available in district headquarters hospitals in the province till December this year.
