PESHAWAR: In order to help resolving various issues of public via complaint and redresal cell, the complaint cell of city district government Peshawar has received more than 1800 complaints of various natures as hundreds among them have been solved so far.
It is note worthy that City district Nazim, Muhammad Asim Khan inaugurated the establishment of complaint and redresal cell on 18th January 2016 in order to listen to masses pertaining to their problems.
In-charge of the complaint cell, Gul Zada Khan who is also a district council member said that they had received complaints against numerous departments including Station House Officers (SHOs), police constables, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) official, Patwaris and others.
While giving forthwith response to complainants, two SHOs of various police stations of provincial capital, six police personnel along Assistant Sub Inspector, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of PDA and a Patwari have been suspended through relevant departments, he informed.
To a query, he responded that they have received 217 written complaints and several others on cellular phones, as most of complainants also visit the office on daily basis. He claimed they had cancelled the issued tenders in some areas after getting complaints against elected representatives of local government and provincial assembly.
Mr Khan said the progress report over complaints is being presented to District Nazim on weekly, quarterly and monthly basis and adding it had gained the confidence of people.
He went on to say that they had also resolved several disputes among people including property, domestic and others.
We take action on complaints with regard to education, health, agriculture, police, PDA, Water Supply and Services Peshawar (WSSP), price hike and other departments of provincial city, he explained.
In-charge complaint cell also claimed there was no pending complaint with them at recent time and that actions on all complaints have been taken within hours.
A specific form is filled from complainant and then it is forwarded to department concerned for further action against alleged person, he clarified.
A reminder is given to relevant department official if he or she fails to take action on time against alleged official and then a follow up is also made, he revealed. Regarding complaints by women, he clearly said they had not received too many complaints so far with regard to females problems.
The complaint cell does not consider personal enmity based cases while giving preference to genuine cases he stated.
The complaints against officials of different departments may reduce in forthcoming time as a result of positive response to complainants and punishment to alleged officials, he added.
A beneficiary of city district government complaint cell, Atif Hussain of Gari Rajkol Peshawar who is also a Youth Councilor remarked he had lodged complaint with compliant cell in city district government against the Nazim of Gari Raj Kol who had issued tender without consulting them.
He claimed that instant action was taken by assistant director local government and rural development who cancelled the tender after my complaint.
He explained that Nazim of the ward did not take them on board and then unilaterally passed the budget as he also issued tender illegally. Expressing satisfaction over quick response of complaint cell, he remarked it will give fruitful results and facilitate masses.
