Excise Dept seizes over 14kg opium in Mardan

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department foiled a major narcotics smuggling attempt in Mardan and recovered 14,400 grams of opium, while arresting two accused during an operation on Ring Road in the district.
The crackdown was carried out as part of the department’s ongoing province-wide campaign against narcotics under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy and on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise Syed Fakhar Jehan.
According to official details, the operation was conducted under the supervision of ETO (Counter Narcotics Operations) Majid Khan and Circle Officer Akif Nawaz Khan. The raid was led by SHO Excise Police Mardan Shakeel Khan, while Inspector Ajmal Lodhi, along with other personnel, searched vehicle number IDK-5990 during checking on Mardan Ring Road.
During the search, the team recovered over 14 kilograms of opium from the vehicle. The accused persons, identified as Sabir Ali son of Muhammad Riaz and Hasan Ali son of Salamat Ali, residents of Sheikhupura, were arrested on the spot.A case has been registered at Excise Police Station Mardan, and further investigation is underway.
Officials said indiscriminate operations against drug traffickers and smugglers would continue across the province to protect the younger generation from the menace of narcotics.
