To improve the overall performance of the Health Care Commission (HCC), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is all set to appoint a permanent CEO for the commission.
Since November 2019, the commission is being run by an officer of the health department on an ad-hoc basis.
In this connection, the provincial government has decided to appoint a permanent CEO for HCC to effectively monitor public and private sector medical institutions in the province.
The Board of Governors HCC has been directed to pick a suitable person for the CEO post with holistic experience and the one who can manage the affairs of the commission.
It has been learned from the sources that the provincial government has proposed Rs600, 000 to Rs100, 0000 salary packages for the CEO.
The commission has also been tasked to induct several other officers for the post of chief financial officer, director clinical, director complaints, director operations, director registration, assistant secretary board, internal auditor, and manager IT. According to KP Health Department sources, the provincial government has taken several important decisions to improve the affairs of the commission, including taking action against several officers of the commission.
The provincial government has also constituted a new board of governors headed by Dr Ikram Ghani, a former senior retired officer of the FBR, in November last year to oversee the affairs and administration matters of the HCC.
However, when approached Dr Maqsood, the incumbent CEO of the commission he refused to comment on the new appointments in the commission.
The commission has been established under the
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission Act, 2015.
The mandate of the commission is to supervise the affairs of the government and private medical institutions in the province
