A fire broke out at the house of senior journalist, Arif Yousafzai, in Peshawar on Tuesday, leaving his 13-year-old son dead and his daughter critically wounded. According to Rescue 1122, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
Some locals said that they heard an explosion, fearing that it may have been caused due to gas leakage. Yousafzai’s only son, Musa Yousafzai and his 11-year old daughter Emaan Yousafzai, were severely burnt in the incident and rushed to hospital in critical condition. Musa succumbed to his wounds in Lady Reading Hospital while Emaan was shifted to a Hayatabad Medical Complex for advanced treatment.
CM KP Mehmood Khan expressed grief over the demise of journalist’s son while his information adviser Kamran Bangash visited Yousafzai’s house to condole the tragic incident.
Leaders of opposition parties, including ANP’s provincial president Aimal Wali Khan, also paid visit to Yousafzai to express their condolences. Musa’s funeral prayer was offered in his village Thand Koi in district Swabi on Tuesday.
