Secretary General (Federal) and spokesperson of the Businessmen Panel (BMP), Ahmad Jawad has said that Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), the apex trade body of the country, was continuously ignoring the rulings and orders of Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO).
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Ahmad Jawad said that the FPCCI included those associations and chambers nominations in the provincial list of voters for 2019 whose licenses were canceled and expired and the same list was uploaded on the DGTO website for the necessary information.
He said it was unfortunate that the FPCCI ignoring the rulings of the DGTO office accommodated their own people in the list of voters which was against the rules and regulation.
The BMP spokesperson said that FPCCI management should understand that they are not a private limited company, their existence has come under the trade act 2013 and they have bound the regulator.
He referred the example in the case of Nazli Abid vs FPCCI where DGTO highlighted the irregularities of the FPCCI in its last month order and despite continuous ignorance was there on the part of the office of Secretary General which act as custodian of the Federation especially when the date of the election was announced.
Ahmad Jawad further stated that every year, the two same members were chosen for FPCCI Election Commission due to their majority in the executive committee which is against the transparency and the process of free and fair election. He requested the DGTO office to intervene in this matter and inquire from FPCCI why these two members are repeated in your election commission.
He further viewed election is on, and BMP has tried its best to place such people who were measured with their due integrity and in few days we will announce the President and SVP candidates in a public gathering followed with the candidates of Vice President.
Jawad said that despite ruling group UBG every year hoped that this year we may win unopposed but again they faced the tough election. We believe in democracy and right to vote which is essential for any flourishing institutions, he added.
The Businessmen Panel also termed the performance of United Business Group (UBG) highly disappointing and discouraging during the last four years.
It said that the fate of FPCCI will be changed in the coming federation’s polls, especially in last four year they continuously ignored the Balochistan which is hub of CPEC in future, neither had it resolved a single issue faced by business community of the province.
