Govt is about to reach the target of Free-polio Pakistan


Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said his government is about to reach the target of Free-polio Pakistan. This year Peshawar and the whole of KP registered one case as against the 68 cases reported back in 2014.
Hazar Khwani is the area where the single polio case reported adding that his government would continue to go whole hog for free polio country in the foreseeable future.

He was addressing a simple gathering to mark the polio drive in the province at the Hujra of MPA Haji Fazle Illahi at Hazar Khwani Peshawar today. MPA Fazle Illahi and Advisor on Polio Eradication Babar Khan also addressed the gathering. Earlier on arrival, the chief Minister formally inaugurated the sub branch of Rescue 1122 at Hazar Khwani Peshawar.

The Chief Minister said that the provincial government was committed to eradicating polio and protecting the life of coming generation. Our efforts would continue till the total elimination of polio. He said that when this province and the adjoining districts of erstwhile FATA recorded polio cases and its subsequent effect, the provincial government took it on itself, accepting the challenge to totally eliminate it on emergency basis. Our previous government took curative efforts in this regard. It established E.C.O and emergency operation theaters and launched renewed efforts to defeat this deadly disease. He reminded that the enemy of the nation created both physiological and physical barriers but we had a matching commitment and efforts towards our goal. He said the nation proved its resilience after manmade and natural calamities even in the recent past adding that now we have a leadership in the shape of Prime Minister Imran Khan who would bring out this nation from the quagmire of multifaceted challenges. He called upon the health sector authorities to go for prevention and launch an awareness campaign against it. He assured the province would continue to supplement the federal government efforts for totally eliminating polio at national level. He also thanked the elders of the area for their participation in the campaign to make it a success story.
