IG-KP directs elaborate security steps during Muharram days

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moazzam Jah Ansari said on Friday that protection of life and property of people was the primary responsibility of police, adding that all necessary steps must be ensured for a peaceful Muharram across the province.
He made these remarks while chairing a high level meeting to review the security of Muharram at Central Police Office Peshawar.
Additional IG Headquarters, Additional IGP Operations, Commandant FRP, CCPO, DIG Headquarters, DIG CTD, Deputy Commandant Elite Force, AIG Bomb Disposal Unit and AI G Operations also participated in the meeting via-video calls.
In the meeting, the police chief discussed the overall law and order situation in the province as well as the measures to be taken especially regarding Muharram.
IG-KP was given a detailed briefing by the regional police officers about the meetings, processions and security arrangements regarding Muharram in the province.
The IGP said that the police, along with other law enforcement agencies, would make all-out efforts to maintain peace and order on the occasion of Muharram.
He directed the participants of the meeting to promote communal harmony and religious harmony and ensure foolproof security through concrete and effective measures.
The higher police authorities were further directed to conduct regular briefing of the police personnel before sending them on duty and equip them with protective jackets and necessary weapons to ensure their safety in all respects.
The IGP said that the police must be alert and diligent at all times and thwart any untoward incident before it takes place.
The provincial police chief gave special instructions to all the regional police officers to ensure the provision of quality food and adequate accommodation to the cops deployed during Muharram.
Moazzam Jah Ansari directed the participants to keep in close contact with Pakistan Army and FC to speed up their operations to prevent and get rid of the menace of sectarianism and militancy.
