KP Govt holds dialogue with women entrepreneurs on ease of doing business

Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with support of Sub National Governance (SNG) Program organized a dialogue with Women Entrepreneurs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Wednesday.
SNG is a program funded by Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCDO) and implemented by Oxford Policy Management (OPM). Finance Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taimur Saleem Khan chaired the opening session while Ms. Annabel Gerry, Director Development FCDO was the guest of honour.
The dialogue focused on two areas of critical importance for the development of women entrepreneurship: taxation and ease of doing business. Businesswomen from Peshawar, Kohat, Haripur and Swat attended the event.
The chairperson of Women Chamber of Commerce Ms. Rabail Riaz, Senator Zarqa Suhrwardy, and Member Provincial Assembly Ms. Ayesha Bano also attended. The Advisor to Chief Minister on Excise Khaleeq-ur Rehman presided the closing session.
The SNG program team provided a brief overview of the incentive structures provided by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for women entrepreneurs. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority and Department of Excise and Taxation were also represented.
The businesswomen were also informed about the taxation regime and taxation processes. The participants were divided in to four groups during the workshop focusing on taxation and ease of doing business.
The groups later on proffered recommendations which were noted by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa representatives. The Bank of Khyber, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Authority and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment set up their respective stalls for providing information to women running businesses and startups.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Excise and taxation Khaleeq ur Rehman, in his closing remarks stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is fully committed to facilitate the women entrepreneurs in the province, while we are striving to facilitate as well as aware Women entrepreneurs about our tax culture and taxation system.
He further stated that our aim is to promote inclusive entrepreneurship in the province. Advisor said that Excise and taxation department will not leave any stone unturned for the promotion of women entrepreneurship in the province.
