IG KP distributes honorary cheques among famalies of martyrs, Ghazi

A total of 52 officials Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police ranked from deputy inspector general to constable received their gallantry awards in a ceremony held Central Police Office here on Tuesday, according to an official statement.
Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed distributed honorary cheques among families of martyrs and Ghazi personnel awarded the Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal (QPM) and Presidential Police Medal (PPM).
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including additional IGPs and DIGs, as well as medal recipients and their families.
A total of 52 police personnel were honoured, including the families of 11 martyrs who had displayed exceptional courage and bravery in the line of duty over the past several years.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP paid tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis, calling them the “real heroes” of the province who ensured peace through their sacrifices. He said the awards were a recognition of the bravery, professionalism and sense of duty demonstrated by police personnel.
“The duties of the police are difficult and dangerous, but good work is always acknowledged,” he said, adding that the courage of KP Police personnel was recognised worldwide.
Mr Hameed said the Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal and Presidential Police Medal symbolised the enduring sacrifices and leadership of martyrs and veterans who laid down their lives to protect citizens and their property.
He emphasised that while such awards could not compensate for sacrifices made, they served as a token of appreciation and an inspiration for others in the force.
The IGP also appreciated the efforts of the finance and welfare departments in ensuring the timely disbursement of the honorary amounts, adding that steps were being taken to further streamline the process.
He congratulated the families of the awardees and expressed hope that police personnel would continue to serve with dedication and uphold the prestige of the force.
Special prayers were offered at the end of the ceremony for the departed souls and for the peace and security of the country.
