FAISALABAD: Lawyers in Faisalabad vandalised a sessions court on Wednesday demanding that a bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) be established in Faisalabad. According to reports, the agitated lawyers stormed the court premises and started damaging property including the district officer’s room. Boycotting the day’s proceedings, the lawyers closed the gates of the court and stopped petitioners from entering the court’s premises. Further, several enraged lawyers broke into the deputy commissioner’s office, creating a disturbance. However, when the lawyers found out that the district commission officer was not present in his office but was holding a meeting in the committee room, a group trouped to the committee room raising a ruckus and disrupting the proceedings. The disruption led to the session being forcibly concluded. Lawyers are protesting for the establishment of an LHC bench in Faisalabad to ensure speedy and cheaper justice to the residents of the city. INP
