Lahore : The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry asked the traffic Chief to resume permanent driving license facility at its premises, in order to facilitate the business community for the sake of saving their time and avoid gathering at regular driving license centers. The LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah made this request to Chief Traffic Officer Capt. (Retd) Syed Hammad Abid while talking to him here at LCCI. Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Captain (R) Syed HammadAbid, said that the process of e-Challan has been further improved.
Keeping in view the need of social distance, the department has improved the digitalization as the e-challans can now be paid online so that people do not have to go to bank and stand in the queue. It is essential to control the spread of Corona virus.
Captain ® Syed Hammad Abid expressed his views during a meeting with Mian Tariq Misbah, President, Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Senior Vice President Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Mazoor Ch. and former Executive Committee member Khamis Saeed Butt were also present on the occasion.
He further added that the process of digitalization has also been improved the transparency and about Rs.31 million has been paid in national exchequer in this connection. The unpaid e-challans which were being manually handled are now automatically get forwarded to Traffic Magistrates.
Responding to the remarks of President, LCCI Mian Tariq Misbah about the traffic problems caused by motorcyclists, Captain (R) Syed Hammad Abid said that more than 4.2 million motorcycles are registered in Lahore and when such motorcycles are added which are registered in other cities, the count goes to about 6 million. Roughly five to seven lacs four-wheeler vehicles commutes in Lahore and the department is managing all this traffic load with limited resources.
