Mega corruption scandal in Mirpurkhas Education Board

Another shocking development has surfaced in the mega corruption scandal at the Mirpurkhas Education Board.
According to an inquiry report completed by the Anti-Corruption Establishment Mirpurkhas, former Controller of Examinations Anwar Aleem Khanzada allegedly collected Rs 2.5 billion from students in exchange for issuing fake matriculation and intermediate certificates and increasing marks.
The report states that the Anti-Corruption Establishment Mirpurkhas has completed its investigation and forwarded the findings to the Director General Anti-Corruption for registration of an FIR.
The inquiry, conducted under FIR No. 03/2026 registered at Town Police Station Mirpurkhas, has revealed sensational details based on evidence and recorded statements.
The inquiry team comprised Deputy Director Asadullah Mirani, Assistant Director Rajpar, Inspector Dilip Kumar, and Inspector Younis. The Anti-Corruption team recorded statements of arrested board employees, owners of affiliated schools and colleges, and other individuals.
According to the report, 2,539 fake matric and intermediate certificates were issued between 2021 and 2025, for which Rs 0.5 to 1 million per certificate was allegedly charged.
Investigations further revealed that Rs 40,000 to 50,000 per marksheet was collected for increasing marks in matric and intermediate examinations.
A total of 15,527 such cases surfaced, resulting in the collection of huge sums, bringing the overall amount to approximately Rs 2.5 billion.
The report further stated that arrested individuals, including Inter Secret Branch in-charge Shahid Latif, Assistant Computer Programmer Azam Khan, and alleged front man of the main accused, Ghulam Hussain Rajar, made important disclosures during interrogation.
Moreover, investigations also revealed the alleged involvement of other board employees, agents, and owners of various schools and colleges. Sources said more arrests are expected in the mega corruption scandal, while Anti-Corruption authorities have expanded the scope of investigation.
The scandal has exposed the severity of corruption within the education system, and more shocking revelations are anticipated in the coming days.
