Millions worth of weapons seized at Torkham

LANDIKOTAL: Customs authorities at the Pak-Afghan Torkham border conducted a significant operation, seizing a large cache of foreign made military weapons valued at approximately 35 million rupees, officials said on Monday. In a media briefing, Customs Superintendent Muhammad Omar Jan said that under the directives of chief collector Jamil Nasir and based on intelligence provided by addtional deputy Collector Shakir Muhammad, a team led by superintendent Zia-ul-Haq Afridi, including inspectors Fahad and Masoor Shah, intercepted a coal truck (registration number KBL51828) coming from Afghanistan. The team discovered 15 M4 rifles, 170 magazines, and over 5,100 rounds of ammunition expertly hidden in secret compartments of the vehicle. Omar Jan stated that the seized arms are of American origin, used in the Afghan war. An FIR has been lodged and the case has been transferred to the Customs House in Peshawar for further investigation. News Desk
