Defence Minsiter Khawaja Asif has said that no-objection certificate (NOC) to former Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif as head of the 39-nation coalition of Muslim countries was issued willingly
Khawaja Asif in a media interview in Islamabad on Tuesday said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabid had cordial relations. He said that government of Saudi Arabia first wrote a letter to Pakistan government regarding the matter after which the government sent a written agreement to the proposal.
To a query the minister brushed aside the impression that the release of PPP leaders was a result of a deal between government and PPP, adding that the courts released the PPP leaders and the government had no role in it.
To another question, he said that he had no reservations of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s recent meeting with the Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. He added that the minutes of the meeting might be known to Imran Khan or the Chief of Army Staff as the defence ministry had no such record.
Khawaja Asif said that the then President Asif Ali Zardari had said that he had granted extension to the former Army Chief General Kayani for the strengthening of democracy but the extension was given on the will of General Kayani, However, General Raheel Sharif had not expressed such desire.

about the rise in the demand of electricity, he said that no one appreciated the government for smooth power supply but when load shedding was increased during last 10 days the people started criticism.

The demand for electricity in the country is 17,140 megawatt, which is an increase of 2,000MW from the units required during the same time last year, he added. he said that the high demand had come from rise in the mercury level throughout the country.
