President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, inaugurated the solo exhibition “Meditations of Form” based on the artwork of renowned painter Wahab Jaffer at Ocean Art Gallery. Wahab Jaffer was also present on the occasion. A total of 45 rare artworks were displayed in the solo exhibition, which became the centre of attention for art lovers.
The exhibition was curated by renowned artist Farrukh Shahab. Among those who attended were artists Shahid Rassam, Tanveer Farooqi, and Sohail Ahmed, along with a large number of artists and individuals associated with the field of fine arts.
Speaking as the chief guest, Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that Wahab Jaffer has a vast collection of Pakistani art and that he has given a large portion of Ahmed Pervez’s artworks to VM Art Gallery.
He said that inaugurating his exhibition is an honor for him. He further said that Wahab Jaffer had the company of great personalities and spent a lot of time with Ali Imam and Ahmed Pervez.
Therefore, the influence of Ahmed Pervez can be seen in his work, which is a natural thing. He added that Wahab Jaffer is not only a high-ranking painter but also a wonderful human being. Basically, he belonged to a large business group in Pakistan, but he dedicated his life completely to the art of painting.
Despite ill health, Wahab Jaffer has played a very important role in Pakistani art and has rendered valuable services. The exhibition currently displayed in the gallery was not easy to organize, as he has been ill for a long time.
A few days ago, his wife also passed away. It is surprising to see that most of the artworks displayed here have been created during the last one to one-and-a-half years, meaning that even during illness, he continued painting.
He has used colors very beautifully. A large portion of the exhibition had already been sold before its formal opening, which is proof that his art is valued. In this entire process, Wahab Jaffer has played a very important role in Pakistani art.
Curator Farrukh Shahab, while expressing his views, said that Wahab Jaffer never let anyone feel how great an artist he is. He always encouraged every working artist and appreciated every new coming artist. He said that this is an encouraging example for people that Wahab Jaffer is still presenting outstanding work even at this stage of his life.
