Pak Army, people sacrificed over 70,000 lives in war against terrorism: Ch Sarwar

Lahore : Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar met with the British Minister of State for South Asia Lord Tariq Ahmad and British High Commissioner Christian Turner, Lord Tariq Ahmad and British High Commissioner appreciated Pakistan’s role in peace. They also acknowledged the steps taken by Pakistan to tackle covid-19.
According to the details, British Minister of State for South Asia Lord Tariq Ahmad and British High Commissioner Christian Turner called on Punjab Governor at Governor House on Wednesday.
Pak-UK relations, Afghan Peace Process, the war against terrorism, covid-19 situation and the other matters of common interest were discussed along with the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
Lord Tariq and British High Commissioner appreciated the steps taken by Pakistan to curtail the spread of covid-19 pandemic.
While talking on this occasion, the Governor said that Pakistani Army and People have sacrificed more than 70,000 lives in the war against terrorism which is unparalleled.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan supports regional peace and stability and stands against terrorism.
While urging British officials to play a more active role in resolving the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, he said that the resolution of these issues is essential for regional peace, adding that Pakistan has always played a part in regional stability. Pakistan has been playing its role in peace in Afghanistan since the beginning.
Chaudhry Sarwar said that British support for Pakistan in the fields of education and health are appreciated.
He said that bilateral relations of Pakistan and the United Kingdom have strengthened during the incumbent government, and the visit of Lord Tariq Ahmad to Pakistan will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
British State Minister Lord Tariq Ahmad expressed hope that Pak-UK relations will be strengthened by his visit, adding that United Kingdom will play its part in the prosperity of Pakistan as it is close to his heart, adding that both countries need to stand united against global challenges.
British High Commissioner said that the United Kingdom will extend cooperation in education, health and other sectors in Pakistan and the steps taken by the government of Pakistan against covid-19 pandemic is commendable.
