Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said on Wednesday that Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, achieved a significant diplomatic breakthrough on April 8, 2026, by playing a key role in securing a ceasefire between Iran and the United States through timely, strategic and coordinated efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting global peace.
In a series of statements, Rana Mashhood said Pakistan’s role in facilitating de escalation between Tehran and Washington highlighted its status as a responsible and peace promoting state on the global stage.
He noted that Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement helped prevent further escalation and contributed meaningfully to regional stability.
Chief PMYP emphasised that Pakistan played an effective role in easing tensions and fostering an environment conducive to dialogue, adding that the country prioritised negotiations over confrontation, setting a positive example for the international community.
Rana Mashhood also credited Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his strategic guidance, describing it as crucial in ensuring stability in the region. He further praised the national leadership for making timely decisions that elevated Pakistan’s standing at the diplomatic level.
Highlighting the role of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Mr Khan said his active diplomacy proved instrumental in advancing peace efforts and maintaining constructive engagement with key stakeholders.
“Pakistan has demonstrated its diplomatic capacity to contribute to global peace as a responsible state,” Rana Mashhood said, adding that Islamabad’s efforts marked an important step towards sustainable peace in the region.
He noted that the international community was increasingly acknowledging Pakistan’s positive and constructive diplomatic role, as the country continues to advocate dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution over hostility.
Rana Mashhood concluded by reaffirming that Pakistan would continue to play an active role in promoting peace and stability in the region, underscoring that its commitment to diplomacy and responsible engagement remains unwavering.
