Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah on Thursday said that the parliament should remain a country’s prestigious institution, not a joke.
The opposition leader said this at the National Assembly session. Shah also regretted about the high current deficit of the country. He asked the session how long we will pour the empty bowl through begging.
He said the country’s current deficit has reached Rs3.740 trillion. Shah regretfully said Pakistan’s debit has reached to Rs24,000 trillion. In the past 65 years, the country’s debit remained Rs14,000 trillion, adding the current government’s policies caused Rs10,000 trillion addition debit in five years.
The opposition leader said if the government takes more loans to overcome current deficit, the country’s deficit will increase to Rs28,000 trillion.
Shah regretted that despite former prime minister (late) Benazir Bhutto rendered numerous sacrifices for strengthening democracy in the country, the government has removed her name from Islamabad Airport, adding her name has been given to Noor Khan Air Base.
Regarding unannounced load shedding, Shah said the country witnesses 10 to 12 hours load shedding which shows that the country has not sufficient power. The PPP senior leader said, PPP always paid respect to the Parliament.”
Regarding finance bill, he said the government has adopted a wrong approach to approve the bill, adding that on ethical grounds, it has not point to approve the bill. He said the government attitude in this regard is regrettable.
Dr Sherin Mizari said maximum half-an-hour is being wait if quorum is not complete but here we will have to wait long hours.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said if the parliament wants minister for parliamentary affairs can be suspended for a day. Responding the speaker, PPP lawmaker Ijaz Jakharani said you can only use power against Sheikh Aftab.
Aftab said that they had offered several lunches in their duration, the session started late so his appearance wasn’t.
However, PPP, PTI and JI walked out from the session.
