ISLAMABAD
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif while taking notice of proposed increase in toll tax on national highways and motorways has directed to provide relief to the people.
Following the directives by PM, Abdul Aleem Khan has issued orders to National Highway Authority (NHA) to withdraw notification issued on April 01. This way the quarterly increase in toll plaza fee which was to be implemented on April 05 has been suspended.
Abdul Aleem Khan has said more financial burden cannot be placed on citizens in the prevailing economic situation as the people are facing hardships due to recent hike in prices of petrol and diesel. Therefore, the decision for increasing toll tax has been withdrawn.
He said PM has directed every possible step be taken to allay hardships of the people.
National Highway Authority has made it clear toll plaza fee will not be increased during financial year of 2025-26.
