Firdous says IK to announce Multan development package: Claims Punjab to complete health workers’ vaccination within week
Special Assistant to Punjab CM on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to lay the foundation stone of the South Punjab Secretariat in Multan on Monday (today) and announce a special development package for Multan.
Talking to the media persons here at a corona vaccination centre on Sunday, Dr Firdous said the people of Southern Punjab love PM Imran Khan and CM Usman Buzdar because the PTI government has laid the foundation of solid development and prosperity in Southern Punjab by taking practical measures.
The South Punjab Secretariat is an important development towards South Punjab province as it would usher in a new era of development. The government is giving rights to the people of South Punjab at their doorstep, she further said.
She said the Punjab government will complete the vaccination of all front-line healthcare workers within a week, as vaccine jabs are available in abundance. She said the government is taking every possible step to protect the people and has allotted Rs1.5 billion for the purchase of over a million coronavirus vaccines for media, front-line workers and the public.
The SACM said the Punjab government has so far vaccinated more than 934,000 people. On average, more than 25,000 people are being vaccinated on a daily basis. Out of 7.4 million people above the age of 60, more than 470,000 people have been vaccinated against corona, she said.
The number of people between the ages of 50 and 59 is 8 million, of them 34,742 have been vaccinated. The number of registered healthcare workers is 232,299 out of which 186,965 have been vaccinated, she said.
The special assistant said the Punjab government has decided to suspend all the educational activities/classes in 25 districts where Covid-19 positivity ratio is more than 5 percent including Sialkot. However, the educational activities will continue in the remaining 11 districts which have a less than 5% ratio, she further said.
Dr Firdous said that Covid-19 cases are rising at an alarming rate and the number of deaths is increasing day by day. She urged all the political leaders to set aside their political differences and come forward and unite together to save the people from the menace of the corona.
The special assistant said that instead of misleading the people, the opposition should join hands with the government to save the lives of the people in this difficult moment.
She said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have dissociated themselves from each other forever and the defeated narrative of both has met its logical end. Those who made tall claims now don’t bother to see each other, she added.
She regretted that government has gotten incompetent and failed opposition. She further stated that PML-N and PPP usurped the rights of the people of Southern Punjab as well as looted funds.
These are the people who chanted the hollow slogans for the people of Southern Punjab. The PTI government is sincere and has great respect for the people of Southern Punjab. Sardar Usman Buzdar has awarded the due right to the people of Southern Punjab.
