Restaurants, salons to reopen on Monday

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar has announced that restaurants and beauty salons would reopen on Monday (August 10) across the country.
In a televised address on Thursday, head of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar said that coronavirus has not been completely eliminated from Pakistan yet, and urged the masses to continue adopting standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He said that efforts against the coronavirus pandemic are bearing fruit. He said that a review on the decision to reopen educational institutes from September 15 would be done on September 7.
He said the NCOC has decided to intensify public awareness campaigns at large scale to curb spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of NCOC, chaired by him.
The forum was informed that despite significant reduction in the spread of coronavirus, the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are not being strictly followed.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers, Fakhar Imam, Ijaz Shah and SAPM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.
The number of coronavirus cases and fatalities continues to go down in Pakistan as the country reported 21 more deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 727 confirmed COVID-19 cases diagnosed in 24 hours and 21 more deaths were reported due to the virus.
