ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has barred the administration from demolishing the lawyers chambers in Islamabad Kutchery till the next hearing.

The court while issuing notices to the Attorney General (AG) and Advocate General Islamabad has directed them not to take action towards demolition of chambers till next hearing.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad remarked don’t pressurize. The court will not succumb to any pressure.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP took up for hearing petition filed against the orders on demolition of illegal chambers of the lawyers.

CJP remarked please go back from rostrum. Why all the people have come forward. Are you not listening the voice. We know the lawyers well. We have remained lawyer. They will never do the work. Wherever some lawyers assemble they speak wrong..

The CJP remarked the lawyers should not compromise on their honor. We consider ourselves part of lawyers. What the lawyers talk about the courts it should also be seen. What is this. Wherever 4 lawyers assemble they start delivering speech through microphone. What the lawyers don’t say despite being part of judiciary. There is no justification of constructing chambers on public property.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked 3-storey chambers were constructed on football ground.

CJP remarked the chambers are considered the personal property of the lawyers. The powers to lease out chambers to bar associations have come from where. The powers to construct chambers on public property has come from where. Chambers have not been constructed on any ground any where in the country.

Justice Mazahir Naqvi remarked 5 acres land has been earmarked for construction of chambers for lawyers.
