Torrential rain disrupt routine life in Mingora

Water and Sanitation Services Company Swat (WSSC) on Monday ate humble pie despite its lofty claims, as a number of localities including roads became deep-flooded after the 2 hours torrential rain lashed out the City. Monsoon’s second torrential rain disrupted routine life in Mingora city on Monday, leaving vehicles and motorists stuck on roads for hours.
It took many hours to flush out the accumulated water in different localities causing lot of hardships for motorists as wells as pedestrians. However, the heavy downpour provided the respite to citizens from the hot and humid spell but flood-like situation soon turned the boon into bane.
The accumulated rainwater remained on roads and children were seen playing and swimming in the flooded streets, while hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the flooded roads of the city. Engines of many of cars and motorcycle broke down. Rainwater also caused traffic jams in many areas, as WSSC could not clear the roads till evening.
Manzor Kamal, local citizen said that provincial government provided each and every facility to WSSC officials, having luxury offices and heavy salaries in order to ensure need and clean environment to local citizens but the recent rainfall badly expose the poor performance of WSSC officials, he added.
When contacted WSSC spokesperson shaista hakim, she said that we have 60 workers they are woking in different localities of the city which areas are left we will send our teams there.
