The home team, batting first in Saint Lucia posted a 199-8 from their 20 overs, leaving behind a task for the visitors Ausies to chase this enormous target down.
Evin Lewis was the pick of the night for Windies as he scored a blistering knock of 79 runs from just 34 balls.
Australia’s Andrew Tye was the only one with commendable bowling performance. He took 3-37 from his 4 overs.
In reply, Australians fell 16 runs short as they managed to score a 183-9 from their quota of 20 overs.
Aaron Finch, Mitchel Marsh and Matthew Wade got to starts but could not manage to carry on, with posting 34, 30 and 26 runs respectively against the score board.
Even though West Indies lost complete momentum during batting after the wicket of Evin Lewis – Andre Russell & Sheldon Cottrell bowled beautifully to earn another win for the team.
The home team which earlier lost 2-3 to South Africa in a closely fought series, have wrapped the 5 match series vs Australians by 4-1. Australian batting, especially their middle order once again ditched them. Batting aggressively through the middle overs backfired for Australia as despite of being ahead on the run-rate in middle overs – Australians ended 16 runs short.
Australia were ahead of the run rate midway in the chase, but they lost steam with Aaron Finch and Moises Henriques falling in the same over.
Dre Russ picked a 3 for 43, his career-best in T20Is. Cottrell got three too. Gayle quietly came on and conceded just nine runs in three overs, bowling yorkers for fun at pace.
