World Bank team called on KP Special Assistant to Chief Minister

A representative team of World Bank called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Science, Technology and Information Technology Kamran Bangash on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest particularly information technology and its provincial developmental projects came under discussion. The World Bank team headed by Senior Social Development Specialist Mr. Emcet Oktay Tas, while Mr.Fuad Malkawi, Urban Development Specialist and Mr. Shan Rehman, Social Development Specialist also comprised.
The team exchanged views with special assistant regarding the proposed project “KP Cities and Digital Transformations Project,” which aims to promote the enabling environment for urban development and digital transformation in the selected cities of province. They discussed the design of proposed project, preparation activities and implementation arrangements and next steps as well as time lines of the project. On this occasion, the special assistant expressed that the provincial government was committed to promote the digital transformation and IT culture in the province, in this connection, Five smart cities would by established in upcoming Five years. He added that in March 2019, a smart city conference also will be held in the province where in representatives of local government and IT industry, academics and researchers would invite so as to incorporate their input in the developmental project of provincial IT sector.
He further said that we were transforming the governance system so as to ensure the public services delivery in smooth manner.
Mr. Bangash went on to say that the proposed project of smart cities will mainly the local government projects but the KP IT Board will provide it technical assistance and all the stack holder will contribute in establishment of the mega project. On this occasion the special assistant assured the team that the government would provide a conducive environment and support to World Bank in the province.
