\nPrime Minister Nawaz Sharif\u2019s lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan on Thursday submitted list of properties purchased on Maryam Nawaz\u2019s name in Supreme Court.
\nA five-member larger bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed the hearing of Panama Papers case here on Thursday. Other judges in the bench include Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.
\nDuring the hearing, Justice Asif Khosa said that \u2018Panama Papers\u2019 issue is related to the whole nation now.
\nCourt has to take care of nation\u2019s fundamental rights, he added.
\nMakhdoom Ali Khan reiterated that Maryam Nawaz is not dependent on anyone and is financially independent. The premier\u2019s daughter\u2019s assets show how she finances herself, Khan argued, adding that her counsel, Shahid Hamid, would present more evidence regarding the matter.
\nThe bench reminded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif\u2019s counsel that the case before them concerns Sharif\u2019s qualification as PM and not the 2013 General Election.
\nJustice Sheikh Azmat Saeed during the hearing observed that the case challenges Nawaz Sharif\u2019s hold on the prime minister\u2019s office.
\nHere Justice Asif Saeed Khosa pointed out that the time-frame in which the appointment of the PM can be challenged following the election through Article 225 is limited.
\nJustice Khosa said that once this time period expires, the court can be asked to review the appointment under Articles 184\/3 and Article 199.
\nJustice Khosa stated that this case concerns the whole nation because the defendant is the prime minister of the country.
\nThe PM\u2019s counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan also informed the court that arguments on the London flats will be delivered by Maryam Nawaz Sharif\u2019s counsel, Shahid Hamid.
\nHe also told the court that Maryam Nawaz\u2019s counsel will also provide the dates and legal documents of the properties bought in Maryam\u2019s name.
\nJustice Khosa enquired if the father bought the land in the daughter\u2019s name.
\nJustice Ejaz Afzal observed that usually parents buy property in the name of children that are dependent upon them.
\nThe National Accountability Bureau ordinance contains the definition of benami transactions but not of dependence remarked Justice Khosa.<\/p>\n
