PESHAWAR: A British Pakistani woman has alleged that her residential plot at Dir Colony has been illegally occupied by education department for construction of a girls\u2019 school.
\nAddressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Ms Sajjad Akhtar demanded of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan to take notice of the issue and help to retrieve her land from the education department.
\nShe said that she lived in Britain and used to come to Peshawar off and on. \u201cWe pay all kinds of taxes to the government and abide by all laws but even then there is no security to our lives and properties,\u201d she said. She added that she had also submitted an application with British Embassy, Islamabad in that regard.
\n\u201cMy three-kanal plot has been occupied illegally and no one is ready to resolve my problem despite repeated visits to the offices of Peshawar deputy commissioner, revenue officials and education department,\u201d said the woman, who is widow of Haji Mohammad.
\nShe blamed local revenue officials for concealing the land record and unlawfully allotting it for construction of school. She said that a three-storey building had been constructed on her land without contacting her.
\nShe alleged that a local MPA was also involved in the illegal occupation of her precious land. She urged Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to help her get the land back.
\nMs Akhtar said that after making efforts for four months, she realised that Peshawar deputy commissioner distorted her case because not only patwaris and tehsildar were his subordinates but he was also avoiding to listen to her complaint.
\n\u201cI am an old widow and this humiliating attitude during the last few months has made me mentally and physically sick too,\u201d said the woman. She said that she wanted to go back to Britain but the issue had created many problems for her family.
