\nPakistan\u2019s limited-overs captain Babar Azam said on Saturday that he wishes to adopt iconic cricketer Imran Khan\u2019s style of leadership that he exhibited during his cricket days.
\nAzam said that the cricketer-turned-PM always favoured aggressive style of play and instilled confidence in his younger teammates.
\n\u201cWhen players are praised, they get the courage [to perform well],\u201d the superstar batsman said, adding that \u201cwhen players are relaxed they deliver better performance.\u201d
\nAzam further said that now he is the skipper, he thinks less of his own self and cares more about the team\u2019s larger interest.
\n\u201cMore than my own performance, I now have to work for the team,\u201d he said, adding that he also tries to encourage his team members and take their input for devising team plans.
\nThe captain expressed hope that he, along with the team, plan on taking the Pakistan cricket team to the top in ICC rankings.
\nAzam is currently with the national contingent in England where they are scheduled to play a Test and T20I series in August.
\nSecond group of Pakistan cricketers reach Worcestershire
\nThe second group of Pakistan cricketers \u2013 including Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz \u2013 reached Manchester.
\nThe players were then taken to Worcestershire via bus and will integrate with the side after testing negative for COVID-19 in the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) testing programme.
\nLeg-spinner Shadab Khan had said before departing for England that it was tough time for him when he first tested positive for coronavirus but he was sure that this hard time would be over soon. He said he was happy when he tested negative for the pandemic.
\nLet it be known that the six cricketers were among the ten players who had initially tested positive for coronavirus, however, their results came negative twice afterwards when retested on June 26 and 29.
\nPakistan are scheduled to face England in three Tests and as many Twenty20 Internationals. The first Test is scheduled from July 30 to August 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
