{"id":131890,"date":"2020-07-13T00:30:57","date_gmt":"2020-07-12T14:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=131890"},"modified":"2020-07-13T00:30:57","modified_gmt":"2020-07-12T14:30:57","slug":"election-commission-postpones-polls-for-gilgit-baltistan-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/election-commission-postpones-polls-for-gilgit-baltistan-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Election commission postpones polls for Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ISLAMABAD &#8211; <\/strong>The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission has postponed the August 18 polls for the provincial assembly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The election commission had issued a schedule for the polls after the provincial assembly completed its term on June 24.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the election has been postponed in view of the regional situation and pending delimitation in Hunza, Diamer and Ghizer districts, according to the election commission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Arif Alvi issued on Sunday a notification regarding postponement of the election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On July 10, the GB chief election commissioner had summoned a conference of all political parties to discuss the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The participants were informed that the administration was not prepared to hold the election. Another two months were required for preparing voter lists and making other arrangements, they were told.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Political parties have opposed the delay in election.
