\nPrime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday directed to accelerate work on Naya Pakistan Housing Programme aimed at providing housing facilities to low-income segments of the society.
\nPresiding over a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Housing, Construction and Development here, the Prime Minister reiterated his resolve to remove all the obstacles in the way of the low-cost housing project.
\n\u201cConstruction of low-cost housing will immediately restore 17 industries,\u201d said the Prime Minister. He maintained that the government will steer the country out of economic depression soon.
\nThe Prime Minister said the government announced an unprecedented incentive package for the construction sector to give impetus to the economic process and promote various industries linked to this sector. He said the package will also help materialize the dream of people with low-income to have a house of their own.
\nHe said the government is determined to simplify the system in this regard so that maximum people can benefit from this scheme. He directed all chief secretaries to present an action plan by next week to introduce an online system regarding the construction sector.
\nThe Prime Minister instructed to utilize information technology at all levels in the construction sector to expedite and simplify the system.
\nDuring the meeting, representatives of the banks presented their loan scheme for the housing project. The meeting decided that National Bank of Pakistan, Bank of Punjab and Bank of Khyber will lead the loan scheme.
\nEarlier on July 6, Prime Minister Imran Khan formed a 13-member national coordination committee to facilitate the construction sector and low-cost housing projects.
\nThe convener of the committee would be Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority while officials from housing, planning division, energy, petroleum, and law departments of the federal government would be part of it.
