PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court here has dismissed the bail petition of a woman arrested by the counter terrorism department on the charge of facilitating militants, who killed 29 people in an attack on the Pakistan Air Force Camp in Badabher area in 2015.
\nJudge Tariq Khan Yousafzai ruled that the petitioner, ZariZadgai alias Parveen, was not entitled to the concession of bail in the case after the evidence on record was seen.
\nThe petitioner claimed that she was innocent and falsely implicated in the case.
\nOver a dozen militants had attacked the Pakistan Air Force Camp in Badabher on Sept 18, 2015, killing 29 people including an Army captain. Around 13 militants were also killed.
\nThe terrorists had entered the residential compound in the camp wearing the Frontier Constabulary\u2019s official uniform.
\nThey had killed 16 people inside a campus mosque.
\nIn Mar 2016, the CTD had claimed to arrest petitioner insisting she was the facilitator of the attackers.
\nThe CTD claimed it had arrested ZariZadgai in Telaband village after receiving a tip-off from an intelligence agency.
\nThe department alleged that during investigation the suspect revealed that she had provided the terrorists with food and water and that she also gave them empty bottles for use in the making of hand grenades and fire bombs.
\nIn June last year, the petitioner had filed another bail petition.
\nHowever, an anti-terrorism court had referred her case to the special court constituted under the protection of the Pakistan Act.
\nA special prosecutor had informed the court that the district prosecutor had opined that the instant case pertained to the schedule offences mentioned in the Protection of Pakistan Act, 2014, and not to the anti-terrorism court keeping in view the severity of the offence.
\nAs the provision related to special courts under the PPA had lapsed after completion of its two years\u2019 legal term, the cases are heard again by the ATC.
\nThe government\u2019s prosecutor said the petitioner had confessed to her guilt before the police and court and therefore, he was not entitled to be freed on bail keeping in view the severity of crimes.
\nBAIL GRANTED: Anti-terrorism court judge Zafar Khan on Saturday granted bail to two people arrested by the local police on the charges of attacking a police party and possessing hand grenades and an unlicensed pistol.
\nThe prosecution claimed that a few weeks ago, a police patrol came under attack by some miscreants near a graveyard in the jurisdiction of the Sarband police station but the policemen remained safe.
\nIt alleged that the police\u2019s party arrested the two suspects, including Mohammad Khalid and Shah Wali, in a nearby area and seized two hand grenades and a pistol.
