Pakistan Stock Exchange\u2019s benchmark 100 Index turns positive last week after closing negative on two occasions. It gained 615 points to end the week at 49,623 points.
\nNone of the investors had any clue as to what the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan\u2019s (SECP) action against stock brokers meant for their investments. This led many of them to prefer sitting on the fence, although the inclusion of six Pakistani public companies in FTSE\u2019s Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) brought them back with a bang.
\nLater during the week, the SECP and the brokers agreed against in-house financing. The Commission has formed a committee to review and prepare a report on all available funding sources and to introduce a market-based financing product.
\nThe aforementioned factors were enough to turn the red into green. Share buying took the Index from its week low of 48,146 points to a week high of 49,891 points.
\nInvestors traded 1.5 billion shares, worth approximately Rs. 71 billion, in the week. Market capitalization grew Rs. 110 billion to almost Rs. 9.82 trillion. Foreign investors were the net sellers during the period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
