PESHAWAR: The inquiry report related to leaked audiotape scandal of Khyber Pakhtunkwa chief minister\u2019s former information adviser, Ajmal Wazir, has been finalized and would be submitted to CM Mahmood Khan soon, sources privy to the development said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
In the inquiry report, sources revealed, Wazir has been found innocent. \u201cNo corruption has been proved against him since he had assumed charge of his office,\u201d the source confided, adding there no evidence of any corruption against Mahmood Khan\u2019s former adviser could be traced in the procurement documents in possession of the inquiry commission.<\/p>\n
Well-placed sources informed that the commission had recorded statements of the accused, Ajmal Wazir and Saqib Butt during the investigation. Butt is the owner of an advertising agency, that has been suspected for being involved in striking a graft deal with Wazir. \u201cStatements of former information secretary and other officials of the Information and Public Relations Department were also recorded,\u201d sources said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe commission had sent the audiotape for forensic analysis and during the examination it was found to be doctored and heavily edited,\u201d the source told Daily Lead Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, sources also informed that the inquiry commission has identified the perpetrators who had hatched a conspiracy against Wazir. CM is expected to take action against the suspects involved in the conspiracy. The suspects, sources said, include some government officials and members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.<\/p>\n
In the inquiry report, sources said the three-member commission suggested systemic method of procurements and grant of advertisements to deserving bidders to eliminate chances of corruption.<\/p>\n
When the scam surfaced last month, the chief minister had constituted a three member commission on July 14 consisting of ex-civil servant Sahibzada Saeed, retired judge Muhammad Bashir and former police DIG Tariq Javed.<\/p>\n
