{"id":14342,"date":"2017-03-11T06:27:25","date_gmt":"2017-03-10T20:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=14342"},"modified":"2017-03-11T06:27:25","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T20:27:25","slug":"motorway-police-inaugurated-safe-road-and-green-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/motorway-police-inaugurated-safe-road-and-green-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorway police inaugurated \u201cSafe road and green Pakistan&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>Islamabad: The afforestation campaign for the year 2017 along Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) was formally launched today under the joint auspices of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Provincial Forest Department.<br \/>\nThe ceremony took place at KarnalSher Khan Shaheed Interchange with NHA&#8217;s Member Administration Mr. Ali SherMahsud as the chief guest.<br \/>\nThe senior officers from National Highways and Motorway Police and Provincial Forest Department were also present on the occasion. The ceremony also marked the initiation of the process whereby more than 300,000 saplings would be planted along the motorway this year.<br \/>\nWhile speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ali SherMahsud termed the activity a big step forward towards achieving the goal of \u201cGreen Pakistan\u201d.<br \/>\nHe said the forest cover in Pakistan was much less than what is required and stressed upon the need for joint and coordinated efforts in order to make the afforestation campaign a success.<br \/>\nHe said that increasing national forest area would not only make the environment cleaner, but also help in reducing the frequency and scale of national calamities such as floods.
