ISLAMABAD : The 55th martyrdom anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider was observed on Saturday across the country. .
\nHe was born in Hong Kong in 1928. He moved to Pakistan before it became independent in 1947 and lived in the village of Ladian, in the district of Gujrat.<\/p>\n
In 1950, he joined newly formed Pakistan Army and was commissioned in Punjab Regiment.
\nDuring Indo-Pak War in September, 1965 as a company commander in Burki, Lahore, he decided to stay with his forward platoon and defended strategic BRB Canal bravely for five days.
\nThroughout, undaunted by constant fire from enemies’ tanks and artillery, he organized the defense of the BRB canal along with his brave soldiers until he was hit by an enemy’s shell and got martyred.
\nHe was 37 years old. Raja Aziz Bhatti was rewarded with the prestigious Nishan-e Haidar for his services to Pakistan.
\nDirector General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Babar Iftikhar in his message on the occasion on Twitter paid tribute to bravery and resilience of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed.
