KARACHI : The convicts of Baldia Factory incident have challenged their conviction in Sindh High Court (SHC).
\nThe Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on September 22, had awarded death sentence to Rehman Bhola and Zubair Charya in this case.
\nATC in its verdict stated that incident was not an accident<\/p>\n
The convicts including Zubair Chirya, Rehman Bhola, Ali Muhammad, Fazal Muhammad, Shah Rukh and Arshid Mehmood have challenged their conviction. <\/p>\n
Advocate Shaukat Hayat and Farooq Hayat filed appeal on behalf of three factory employees while advocate Amir Mansoob filed appeal plea in respect of convicts Rehman Bhola and Zubair Chirya.<\/p>\n
The lawyers took the plea in the petitions that the facts were ignored in the decision by the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC). <\/p>\n
The court acquitted MQM leaders Rauf Siddiqui and other three persons for want of evidence. Those acquitted were Adeeb Khanum, Ali Hassan Qadri and Abdul Sattar.
\nThe court announced punishment for 4 accused persons after their abetment in the offence was proved. <\/p>\n
The facilitators who were sentenced are Arshid Mehmood, Fazal, Shah Rukh and Ali Ahmad. <\/p>\n
As many as 259 people were burnt to death in Baldia Town factory tragedy on September 11, 2012. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
