\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday withdrew a case related to a clash of army personnel with the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement\u2019s (PTM) leaders and workers at a Kharqamar military check post in North Waziristan last year.
\nThe KP government had registered a First Information Report (FIR) registered against the PTM workers and leaders, including Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar, members of National Assembly, at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Police Station, Bannu Range, for allegedly attacking a military check post at Kharqamar in North Waziristan. Thirteen people were killed and several were injured in the clash.
\nOn May 26 last year, Wazir and Dawar had led PTM supporters to participate in a sit-in protest in the area against the alleged beating up of a woman by the military on May 25 and other human rights abuses in the area. They were stopped by security forces at the check post, which resulted in the deadly clash.
\nOn March 16 this year, the KP law department had filed an application in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Bannu, stating that the provincial government wanted to withdraw the case. The application was filed through the Bannu district public prosecutor and ATC Bannu\u2019s senior public prosecutor.
\nOn Wednesday, the ATC judge Baber Ali Khan, who heard the case in Abbottabad due to security reasons, accepted the government\u2019s application.
\nMNA Dawar also confirmed that the government had withdrawn the case. He and Wazir also filed an application before the court, requesting the judge to decide the case as per law after the submission of the withdrawal application.
