\nPESHAWAR
\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to bring certain changes to its power policy to facilitate investors and offer them incentives for the generation of cheap electricity in the province.
\nThe decision was made during the 17th meeting of the board of directors of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation.
\nBoard chairman Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad chaired the meeting, where energy and power secretary Naeem Khan, finance secretary Ali Raza Bhutta, additional secretary of the home department Shahidullah Khan, Senator Nauman Wazir, Peshawar Electric Supply Company chief executive officer Shabbir Ahmed, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Haji Afzal, Pedo chief executive officer Akbar Ayub Khan and relevant officials were in attendance.
\nA statement issued here said the government would provide friendly environment to power investors.
\nThe board approved Pedo restructuring plan and the promotion of many BPS-16, BPS-17 and BPS-18 officials.
\nThe statement said work on three 57MW hydropower projects would be completed in the next three months before they began generating cheap electricity to promote industrialisation.
\nThe relevant officials briefed participants about the work in ongoing energy projects and said work would begin soon on the 300MW Balakot hydropower project.
\nThey also said the execution of 356 micro-hydropower projects, 84MW Matiltan power unit, 41MW Koto hydropower project and 69MW Lawi electricity unit was in full swing.
\nThe officials said more power projects had been planned for different parts of the province.
\nThey said the cabinet had approved a hydropower policy earlier last year to broaden its scope and increase investment in the power sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
