\nThe College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) is striving for standardization of training of postgraduate students in every section of medical field keeping in view the acute dearth of specialists in the basic sciences.
\nThis was stated by Dr Zafarullah Chaudhry, President of CPSP.
\nHe asked the young doctors to join other fields as well as medical field had entered new dimensions.
\nThe moot was followed by a dinner which was attended by fellows, supervisors and postgraduate students from Haripur, Mansehra, Abbottabad, CMH and other parts of KP and Punjab.
\nCouncillors of CPSP Prof Naqeebullah Achakzai, Maj-Gen Sulman Ali, Khalid Masood Gondal and Prof Shoeb Shafi were also present.
\nDr Zafarullah also inaugurated the newly-constructed block of the regional centre which has been built at a cost of Rs6.8 million funded by the CPSP.
\nWhile giving word of advice to doctors, Dr Zafarullah said they were answerable to public for which they should deliver best ever services by following professional ethics. However, he complained that in most cases doctors lacked ethical approach which badly affected their profession and patient care.
\nDr Zafarullah stressed the need for research-based practice with innovative ideas, and said owing to tiring efforts and maintaining the quality in award of degrees, CPSP had become symbol of pride for Pakistan as it received honour and distinctions by the world renowned organisations and universities. He said now foreign doctors were approaching CPSP for training in Pakistan which was a remarkable achievement.
\nThe CPSP chief said that a number of programmes and workshops had been started, with plans to construct modern hospitals in different regional centres. He said currently the ratio of female specials had shown upward trend compared to male doctors.
\nEarlier, dean of medicines CPSP and regional director Abbottabad chapter, Prof Jehangir Khan, said the centre was established in 2001 in a small room which was now turning into a full fledge centre of activities for the young doctors. Now a lecture room with a workshop hall can cater to the needs of more than 300 participants, he added.
\nHe demanded holding of surgical workshops at the centre with video link conference facility as currently 530 postgraduate doctors and 250 fellows with supervisors were providing training facility to the students. He said due to increasing number of specialists, healthcare facilities in Hazara division were improving.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
