\nSpecial Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has claimed that internal differences within the ranks of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) exposed in Friday\u2019s Jati Umrah meeting. Talking to journalists, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that PMD\u2019s leadership could not agree on a common agenda despite holding a six-hour-long session. She maintained that PMD\u2019s narrative died in Jati Umrah. The special assistant said that the opposition parties had formed the alliance to protect their personal interests. The PDM has nothing to do with national and public issues, Firdous claimed.
\nEarlier today, divisions had emerged within the ranks of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) as top leaders of the opposition alliance discussed the future course of action against the incumbent government. According to sources having knowledge of the discussion during the PDM meeting, the differences had emerged over issues pertaining to resignations from assemblies and participation in the Senate elections and by-polls.
\nThe meeting had been attended by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto via video link while the other PDM leaders attended the meeting at Jati Umra in person.
\nSeparately, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat jointly presided over the 33rd passing-out ceremony of 446 cadets of Rescue 1122 at Emergency Services Academy on Friday.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan felicitated the passed out cadets and said the Rescue 1122 has established its credibility just because of excellence through professionalism. She said the rescuers are the real heroes and pride for all as they put their lives in danger to protect and save the lives and properties of people.
\nWhile appreciating the performance of Rescue 1122, Dr Firdous said that rescue cadets served on the frontline against any calamity. The SACM said the government is taking steps to establish a welfare state on the model of the city State of Medina. She appreciated the work done by DG Dr Rizwan Naseer to develop Rescue 1122 on modern lines.
\nDr Firdous urged the rescuers to perform their duties with responsibility and courage, adding that the prime responsibility of every rescuer was to timely respond in emergencies and save the lives of the people. \u201cEvery human life is precious and its protection is the foremost priority and responsibility of the rescuers,\u201d she remarked.
