Lahore April 15 (Online): Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Siraj ul Haq has warned the government that its new agreement with the IMF will bring unbearable hike in prices of utility and food items.
\nThe government secret accord with the international lender was question mark on country\u2019s sovereignty, he added while talking to party workers at Mansoora on Thursday.
\nSirajul Haq said the people would not accept further increase in prices of electricity and gas. He said the more taxation would bring more miseries in the life of millions of middle class and poor people because the common man instead of ruling elite would be the target for tax collection.
\nHe said people were losing jobs, earning opportunities were vanishing and most worrying point was increase in ratio of joblessness among educated youth. He said sending schools to his kids was impossible for a poor man.
\nSirajul Haq said the debt trap paralyzed the economy and the PTI government failed to develop policy to bring the country out of economic crisis.
\nHe said the occupation of wealth and resources by few families and interest based economy were the main hurdles to put the country on track.
\nSirajul Haq said the prime minister made claims to bring change in the status quo but his government proved the protector of the corrupt system. He said the bad governance was the real issue marring the country. He said the government failed to introduce across the board accountability.
\nThe JI chief said the entire nation should join hand to bring real change in the country.
\nHe said the old pawns and agent of the west were responsible for the people\u2019s deprivations.
\nSirajul Haq said the country needed a system based on the true Islamic democratic values in which everyone could be held accountable before the law.
\nHe said there was a dire need to get rid of the elite which were in-charge of the affairs for decades but did nothing for the masses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
