QUETTA : At least nine people have died so far by the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) in Quetta.INP reported.
\nAccording to details, 84 patients have been brought in Fatima Jinnah General and Chest Hospital in the ongoing year.
\nAt least 22 of them have been confirmed with the disease whereas three are still under treatment.
\nOne of the affected patients Habibullah is said to be in better condition while the blood test samples of two others have been sent to Karachi.
\nThey include Qila Saifullah\u2019s 30-year-old Rehmatullah and Quetta\u2019s 35-year-old Amanullah.
\nFatima Jinnah General and Chest Hospital is the only centre in Balochistan to treat Congo virus where a large number of patients arrive not only from the far flung areas of the province but also from neighboring country Afghanistan.
\nDespite consecutive cases of Congo virus, no laboratory is present in the hospital for itsidentification.
\nThe hospital administration has warned that eight districts of the province are vulnerable to the disease.<\/p>\n
KP Livestock Dept launched Congo virus protection campaign<\/p>\n
Peshawar:In the wake of growing incidents of Congo virus in other provinces, the Livestock and Dairy Development Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government launched a preventive campaign in Hazara Division to control the disease.
\nThe department has dispatched teams to Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur districts where they carried out preventive spray for the elimination of ticks, told District Director Livestock, Battagram, Dr. Abdul Waheed Alvi. He said that cattle farms’ owners and other stakeholders were educated about the virus and the precautionary measures to control it. Sharing information regarding loss of human lives caused by Congo virus, he disclosed that12 persons have died of Congo virus in Balochistan, five in Sindh, and two in Punjab province. Appreciating the cooperation of the farm owners in Hazara division for countering Congo Virus he said such cooperation helped save hundreds of animals on time; however, the precautionary spray campaign will continue till Eid-ul-Adha. He further told that slaughter houses were also targeted during this campaign; butchers were made aware of the deadly virus and animals were also sprayed. Similarly, such measures are being taken in Alaai, a remote Tehsil of district Battagram in the leadership of Zardast Khan.
